“My competitive career started age 8 in equestrian events. I was going to be an apprentice jockey. (Yes, I’ve always been vertically challenged.) By age 12 I’d discovered that motor-sport was more exciting than horses, also no mucking out involved, so started schoolboy motocross.
Left school and had to start paying myself. I started karting when I was 21 and could borrow the money. I did better on 4 wheels and won a Winter National Series. After about 5 years, I ran out of money again.
Still having the competitive bug I looked for something cheaper. I took up karate and made the England squad. Age caught up with me and I had to stop competing.
In 2001 I did a hire-drive in stockhatch and was hooked. This was all Norm’s fault, though to this day she still denies it. Our best overall season in stockhatch was 2005, finishing 4th in the BRDA championship.
2006, I moved up to the Supermodified category. Although the car initially performed very well, it has had lots of teething problems.
Looking forward now to 2007. Lots of development going on over the winter for both car and driver.”

“I had absolutely no Motorsport experience whatsoever, until I met Simon. Now I do everything except drive or fix the car. This involves everything from memberships and entry forms, to dealing with Simon during a ‘teddy throwing’ moment. Most importantly, though, the BUDGET.
I hadn’t realised how expensive this would be, so now I have my own philosophy; I have no life - I have Rallycross.
We sacrifice everything for the racing, but a race weekend can make it all worth while.
My other passions are music, singing (I used to sing in a band) and Motorcycle racing (watching).”

“My motorsport bug bit at a very early age. In fact I’ve been going to race meetings since I was born. I’ve always been around cars and always had a fascination with anything mechanical. Many days spent at my dads workshop certainly helped educate me, and taught me the basics of how a car works. The first ever job I did all on my own was a cam belt on a Fiesta turbo aged 10.
Soon after that I was bought a kart. It was just something to have a bit of fun in on practice days and teach me the basics of car control. The kart was sold to make way for a Mini-stock which I raced from aged 12-16. Most of the car preparation was done by me with a little guidance from dad. (Ok a lot of guidance) In my final year I finished 3rd in the championship. Then moved onto Group A hotrods (highly modified 1300cc family salon cars) this taught me a lot about car handling and suspension set ups.
Had a break from racing for a few years then started rallycross in the stockhatch category. Finished 4th in the 2004 BTRDA championship. Now I’m back racing in the MDA minicross championship.”
